De vorige wijziging van de wettelijke rente vond plaats per 1 juli 2023. De wettelijke rente wordt berekend door de basisherfinancieringsrente van de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) te verhogen met een opslag van 2,25%. De basisherfinancieringsrente van de ECB bedraagt 4,5%. De berekende rente wordt afgerond op hele procenten, waarbij halve procenten of meer naar boven worden afgerond. De basisherfinancieringsrente is de rente waartegen banken voor de duur van &eacute;&eacute;n week geld kunnen lenen van de ECB.
